Funkstar Dance Showcase 03 took place on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th December.

Each class and team had been working very hard for months in preparation. They impressed the audience with their energy, attitude and unique style and finished their fabulous year with a bang! Choreographer Donna is very proud of everyone involved!

Dancing with Louie Spence – Video

Funkstar were chosen to perform with Louie Spence (from Pineapple Dance Studios) at his book signing, Still Got it Never Lost it, at Waterstones in Liverpool One. 7 of Funkstars dancers age 12-18 performed Louie’s choreography to Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ at 3pm after meeting Louie backstage. It was a fantastic day and Funkstar were over the moon to be chosen.

International Choreographer Award IDTA

Earlier this year Donna sent off a DVD of the Funkstar team to the ‘International Choreographer of the Year Award’ competition. She was very pleased to be chosen for the final 10 and the Funkstar team performed at the competition held at the Royal Northern College of Music in September. They opened the competition with a bang & blew the audience away. Unfortunately, Donna came home empty handed but was overwhelmed to have been chosen for the final and extremely pleased with the teams performance, Funkstar received some fantastic feedback from the audience.

Summer School 2011

Summer School 2011 was the second summer school to be held at the studio and was a great success. This year there was an extra class and over 50 dancers took part.

Everybody had a fantastic week, worked very hard, had lots of fun and improved immensely. At the end of the intense week friends and family were invited to come and see what the dancers had learnt and watch them receive their certificates. They all gave a fabulous performance and the audience couldn’t believe how much the groups had learnt in just one week.

Congratulations to Freya, Chelsea and Molly who received Funkstar badges and well done to Patrick for receiving Funkstar of the week! These dancers are pictured below.
